B120 - BOX of PASTELS

Instructor: Janet Monafo

During this one-day pastel portrait workshop you will be shown methods of organizing the proportions of the head and features by blocking in simple planes and values. A limited mono-chromatic palette and techniques such as "lost' and found' edges" will enable students to quickly create the illusion of 3-dimensionality. Working from life, students will be encouraged to work loosely, with many beginnings to help establish an expressive sense of unity within the portrait.
